Using Kittl for POD, client work or products? Free is not the commercial plan.

Kittl's current licensing guidance draws a clear line: Free is for personal use. If you plan to sell a design, deliver client work or publish commercial assets, move to a plan with commercial rights before you publish the commercial output.

Safest buyer path

Design free, upgrade when the work becomes commercial

  1. Use Kittl Free to test the editor on a personal draft.
  2. Before selling, delivering to a client or publishing for business use, choose a commercial plan.
  3. Pro is the practical entry point when you need commercial rights plus high-resolution and vector exports.
  4. Use Max only when the 500,000-copy commercial limit itself becomes a real constraint.

The licensing difference that matters

Free · $0

Personal use only

Kittl says Free does not include commercial rights. Exports are also limited to low-resolution PNG/JPG, while vector and high-resolution export require a paid plan.

Pro · currently $19/mo monthly

Commercial entry point

Kittl's Pro help page includes a commercial license, high-resolution PNG/JPG, PDF/SVG vector export, premium libraries, custom fonts and unlimited projects. Kittl states commercial use is covered up to 500,000 copies.

Check Kittl Pro →
Max

No copy limit

Kittl's Max help page describes an Enhanced License with no copy limits. That matters for high-volume merchandise or packaging where the standard commercial-license ceiling could be exceeded.

Pricing and license terms can change. The final Kittl checkout and current license terms control your purchase and permitted use.

Pro is usually enough when…

  • ✓ You sell print-on-demand designs at normal small-business volumes.
  • ✓ You create client graphics, brand assets, social creative or packaging.
  • ✓ You need SVG/PDF vectors or high-resolution 300dpi exports.
  • ✓ You want premium templates, fonts and commercial-ready output without jumping to the highest tier.

Check Max when…

  • • Your expected commercial reproduction volume may exceed 500,000 copies.
  • • You need the strongest current Kittl license ceiling rather than simply more design features.
  • • Your AI and storage workload is already heavy enough that Pro or Expert limits are material.

AI-generated content has a separate Free-plan warning

Kittl's current AI usage rules say Pro, Expert and Max users can use AI-generated content commercially subject to Kittl's terms and licensing. On the Free plan, AI-generated images become part of Kittl's shared content library and cannot be sold commercially on their own. If your product depends on AI-generated artwork, treat this as another reason to verify the paid-plan license before publishing.

Low-risk revenue decision

Use Free for evaluation. Pay when commercial rights become necessary.

That keeps the test free while avoiding the mistake of treating Kittl Free as a commercial license. If the editor fits your workflow, upgrade before you sell or deliver the commercial design.

Kittl commercial-use FAQ

Can I sell designs made on Kittl Free?

Kittl's current documentation says the Free plan is for personal use only and does not include commercial rights. Use a commercial plan before selling or using the final design for business purposes.

Does Pro cover print-on-demand?

Kittl states Pro includes a commercial license for eligible designs up to 500,000 copies. Check the current licensing terms for your exact asset mix and intended use before publishing at scale.

What happens if I cancel later?

Kittl's licensing help says commercial designs created under a qualifying paid subscription can remain usable after the subscription ends, subject to its current post-subscription and licensing terms. Verify those terms for the specific design before relying on long-term rights.

Where Expert fits

Expert is an additional paid plan between Pro and Max. Like Pro, it includes a commercial license with a 500,000-copy limit; Max has an enhanced license with no copy limit.
